Arch. Angelo Amato
Prefect, Congregation for the Causes of Saints
“The Church gives thanks to the Divine Trinity for her life of charity and kindness. Chiara Badano, a modern and cheerful girl who loved sports, conveys a message of optimism and hope. Even today, young people can be holy. Yes, even today.”

This is a historic beatification because she is the first member of the Focolare movement raised to the altar. This movement was founded by Chiara Lubich in 1943 and helped lead Chiara on her path to holiness. There are currently about 2 million people from 182 countries that participate in the spirituality of the Focolare Movement.
